Eight core mac pro

I’ve been busy moving website and so have not had a chance to post about the latest and greatest Mac Pro.

This uses the new Intel Quad-Core chips, two of them in fact. Giving you a total of 8 cores running at 3GHz.

Apple have also started to install 750Gb hard-drives into these systems. This gives you the possibility of 3 TeraBytes of storage within the machine’s 4 built-in drive bays.

Maximum memory is still set at 16Gb (using 2Gb DIMMs). I recently updated my Quad to 8Gb (8, 1Gb DIMMs) and I’m not looking forward to having to upgrade to 2Gb DIMMs as they are still well over double the price of the 1Gb versions. Still, at least that much memory can be installed if you need it (I upgraded to 8Gb because of the new version of Photoshop 10 Beta, which is seriously memory hungry with smart-filters, etc).
