Canon are showing a teaser for a new DSLR. Of course, I’m hoping this is going to be the 5D replacement but we should find out in the next couple of weeks.
Panasonic have announced they intend to release a replacement for the L10 (their 4:3s camera) on the 12th of September.
Could this be the first Micro 4:3s model? Could this be a rendering of the camera? Unlikely since it’s not a DSLR but it would not surprise me if it’s something like this but with an EVF added.
We’ll soon see that they have planned though.
There’s a piece on street photography in a less well visited area of China on Luminous Landscape’s site.
There are some really nice shots of the changes to and the intimate details of the city, as well as the local countryside.
The shots are taken mainly with a Leica M6 and a Bessa R2a. It’s well worth a look.
We’ll it’s been an ongoing saga with my Canon 40D and its intermittent “Err99″. I’d thought the issue had gone away because I’d not seen the message for several weeks, despite regular use of the camera.
However, about 3 weeks ago during a shoot on a sunny day it returned and with a vengeance. The problem occurred about 12 times in a couple of hundred shots - a much higher percentage than before.
The decision to phone…
DPReview has posted sample images from the 50D and some sample images / videos from the D90.
The images from the 50D are pretty good, especially considering the 50% jump in mega-pixels. The 1600 ISO image of a copper plate showing a ship is remarkably free from noise while still retaining plenty of detail.
There’s no 1600 ISO image for the D90 but there are two 3200 ISO ones. Personally, I think these two images (crocodile &…
Adobe has posted a ‘reminder’ page for a webcast about Creative Studio 4. You enter your name and email, they post you a reminder of the webcast which is set for the 23rd.
Samsung have announced that they are going to make a new camera system using a APS-C sensor, interchangeable lenses and use a smaller body than a DSLR.
It sounds a lot like the Micro 4:3 system but they are reputedly going to use the sensor from the GX-20. This is definitely not a 4:3 system sensor.
Why they would decide not to go with the 4:3 system is unclear. Surely it would be better to have a…
I’m heading off up to the UK’s newest National Park, The Cairngorms for a break soon and decided to replace my exceedingly slow old backup drive with a brand-spanking-new model.
The issue with the old device was, while it was USB2 compatible it was only really USB1 speed. Transferring of data was at about 1Mb/sec on a good day. Which is very slow if you’ve just finished all your picture labelling for the day and want…
If you have a Apple Mac and a Nikon you might want to take a look at the press release on the Nikon / Microsoft agreement that’s just been announced.
There was some speculation that the NRW format used in the new Nikon P6000 might be locked into Windows and after seeing this I’m starting to think there may be some grounds for these concerns.
I using Canon equipment at the moment and while I had considered…
The rumour mill is still buzzing with the possibility of another DSLR from Canon at Photokina. See Northlight Image’s page (28 August entry). There’s also some interesting bits on possible future technology from Canon on the 27th of August entry.
The question is, if they do release another DSLR will it be a model with video recording or a full-frame replacement for the 5D? There have been rumours of both but I personally hope, if there…
