Upcoming online threats on the Mac?

Wednesday, October 5th, 2005

I was watching ‘Click Online’, a program on BBC New 24 (carried on Sky satellite) and they had an interesting report from Symantic (the makers of Norton Antivirus) about the changing trend in viruses and online attacks (as well as reporting that Windows PC has 10,000 new viruses in the last 6 months).

Apparently there is an increase in the number of viruses and other malware intended to extract money or steal indentities - ultimately for…

No blogging software here (updated)

Tuesday, October 4th, 2005

It would have been really nice to put a helpful link into the ‘Passive mode FTP’ entry above (now here) to the entry in the Mac Switch blog (and visa-versa) to make it easier for readers of the site. The difference being that one has passive mode enabled in the GoLive FTP setup and the other not. I’m only mentioning this because I placed an entry on turning this off in the Mac Switch…

The wrong type of apostrophe

Monday, October 3rd, 2005

I uploaded the latest version of this site the this morning and a friend, Steve, pointed out some very odd formatting on the site. When viewed in GoLive ‘layout’ view and ‘preview’ view it all looks ok. Even when it’s previewed in Safari (from the local hard-drive) it still looks fine. But look at the version on the server (as you are) and I was getting lines with odd text, such as “…is {4eonly{5e a…
