There an interesting bit on MacNN about Intel’s new chips which are bound for the Mac platform towards the end of 2007. They use a new method of making transistors, “high-k” which is described as being the largest change in transistors since the “polysilicon gate MOS transistors in the late 1960.”

Hasselblad is to introduce a new “mid-range” model into their range of H3 cameras. It’s pixel count is 31mp and it slots in between the current 39mp and 22mp models. It has the advantage of 800 ISO instead of the 39mp back’s 400 ISO limit and it’s ‘cheaper’ than the 39mp model. However, at €19,900 isn’t not exactly ‘bargin-basement’.

Adobe have announced the released date Lightroom version 1. At the end of February you will be able to buy it. The UK Adobe store is listing the price at £175 excluding VAT but if you buy before the 30th of April 2007 there’s a £50 discount, bringing the price to £125 excluding VAT or £146.88 + postage & packaging (boxed version). Well, I finally made a decision and went for the HP B9180 Pro. I’d been contemplating any number of printers, a HP Z3100, Canon iPF5000, Epson 4800 Pro and the Epson 3800 Pro. I’m intending to start selling prints and needed something which can provide me with decent sized prints and the longevity that customers would (and should) expect. Some more links for the iPhone have appeared - can you tell I’m interested in one yet?
There’s a little more information on the iPhone posted by Sun Time’s writer Andy Ihnatko. This includes some indication that it’s running a full version of OSX 10.5 - well it’ll be the full kernel with an iPhone GUI on top. Apple have release a beta of the Widget development system, Dashcode. This beta is ’scaled back’ to work on Tiger and has been released to allow developers to get a look at the system, make suggestions and high-light problems to Apple. You need to be an ADC member to download this beta - you can sign up here.

Photo-i is in the process of reviewing the new Epson 3800 Pro printer. There is a video review up already and a few pages. For anyone who’s never seen a ‘interactive’ review on Photo-i before, the site provides the ability to request the review of features during it’s progress on the forums.
There is also a (completed) review of the HP B9180 Pro printer too.
