Mac OSX 10.4.11 printing

Just a quick heads-up really. I updated my G5 Quad Mac to OSX 10.4.11 (the latest security update). This includes an update to CUPS, the printing system.

Ever since I’ve been regretting it. I cannot reliably print from either my Epson C1100 laser or my HP B9180 Pro. I believe (as do an awful lot of other people) that this update is responsible.

For a while now I’ve been after a ‘pocket’ camera. There hasn’t been anything until the recent Canon G9 and Ricoh GRD2 that caught my eye. However, both these cameras still stuffer from a major issue. They have tiny image sensors and no proper viewfinder.

No new 5D?

Rumour mode - on.

So, there’s a chatter about the 5D replacement - as there always is and I try not to comment until there’s some evidence, but I have to comment on this.

Apparently AP magazine has asked the head of Canon UK ‘Product Intelligence’ if there was going to be a new 5D. Apparently he said no, "because there is no competition for it."

I truly hope this guy is attempting to misdirect us.

Sigma DP-1 news

It’s all go on the “pro” digicam front at the moment with Sigma releasing an announcement on the DP-1.

Essentially, Sigma have had problems getting the image quality that they wanted from the camera and decided to delay the product until they solved the issues.
