MacNN are rumouring a new Leica system, the ‘S’ system. Featuring 9 new lenses and a body with a 37 mega-pixel sensor. It’s supposed to be somewhere is size between a 5D Mk2 and a 1Ds Mk3.
It’s interesting but just how much will Leica want for it and the lenses? They are aiming it at high-end DSLR users but Leica kit is normally pretty expensive.

DPReview have a picture of the 40mm (equivalent) f1.7 lens prototype from Panasonic. This is going to fit any Micro 4:3 camera and could make the recently announced G1 a pocket camera - albeit with a fixed lens.

DPReview has a gallery of sample images from a Beta version of the 5D Mark 2. The 100 ISO images have plenty of detail and very little noise in the shadows. There are also shots at 2000, 3200, 6400, 12800 and 25600 ISO.

Adobe have announced the latest version of their RAW conversion engine (v4.6), with updates their DNG converter and Camera RAW plug-in (ACR).

Canon have today announced the long awaited 5D mark 2. The camera has a lot of expectation to match up to and there’s a lot of good stuff in there. There’s also some indifferent and disappointing issues if you live in the UK.

Leica have updated the M8, introducing the M8.2. This includes the sapphire glass cover for the LCD and the quieter shutter which were previously offered as an upgrade on the M8.
In addition to this the camera has a ’snap-shot’ mode (as “full-auto” as the M gets), a more hardwearing covering, the removal of the famous red-dot (replaced by a body matching colour), easier exposure compensation adjustment, an improved rangefinder and several other changes.

Leica have announced the D-LUX 4 and C-LUX 3, these are rebadged version of Panasonic’s LX-3 and FX-37.
They optimistically label the D-LUX 4 as the “Son of M8″. It does have a fast lens and RAW but that’s about as far as it goes really. It’s missing a large sensor, interchangeable lenses, a rangefinder focusing system, etc, etc, etc.
Still, the LX-3 / D-LUX 4 does look like an interesting digicam and it’s much cheaper than an M8.2.
